Physiotherapy for Fertility
Infertility can be one of the most devastating challenges for a heterosexual couple. There could be so many causes and so little is known before you put your heart and soul in having a baby. Advanced medical technologies give big promises but only have a 20-30 percent success rate, not to mention the crazy expenses involved. There is much more involved in fertility than just a mechanical transfer of a fertilized embryo.
Over the recent years the role of specialized physiotherapists is more recognized in assisting women with aspects of their fertility journey. More studies are conducted that show improved success rate of natural pregnancy using fertility massage and also Assisted Reproductive Technologies (like IVF and IUI) combined with manual physical therapy. This is not regular manual therapy. The specific techniques are developed for the purpose of promoting the mobility and function of the organs, ligaments, osseous structures, muscles, fascia, and nerves. Thus, they affect the biomechanics of the entire abdominopelvic region.
